LOCATION - Lat 39°34'28.33", long 107°26'52.53" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.36, T.5 S., R.90 W., Garfield County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14010005, on left bank 20 ft upstream from the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Co. bridge, 250 ft upstream from mouth, and 5 miles east of New Castle.
DRAINAGE AREA - 55 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1954 to September 1960. April 2022 to present.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 5,611.06 ft above NAVD of 1988, from GNSS survey. Prior to Apr. 15, 2022, elevation of gage was reported as 5,620 ft above NGVD of 1929, from river-profile map.
REMARKS - Water year 2022; records poor. Water year 2023; records poor. Water year 2024; records fair except for the period Oct. 1 to May 19, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Diversions above station for irrigation of about 1,100 acres, of which 800 acres is along the Colorado River.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - 1954-60: Maximum discharge, about 1,000 ft³/s, June 29, 1957; maximum gage height, 9.60 ft, July 1, 1957 (backwater from Colorado River).
