LOCATION - Lat 39°34'25.67", long 107°32'23.76" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.31, T.5 S., R.90 W., Garfield County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14010005, on left bank at downstream side of the pedestrian bridge in New Castle, 0.34 mi upstream of mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 180 mi².  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1922 to September 1924, October 1954 to September 1960. March 2022 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 5,556 ft above NAVD of 1988, from digital map. Altitude of gage is 5,550 ft (from river-profile map). Mar. 17, 1922, to Sept. 30, 1924, staff gage at site 300 ft upstream at different datum. Prior to March 17, 2022, gage located on left bank at upstream side of The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad Co. bridge in New Castle, 300 ft upstream of mouth.
REMARKS - Water year 2022; no estimated daily discharges. Records good. Water year 2023; records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Diversions above station for irrigation of about 3,500 acres, of which about 1,500 acres is along the Colorado River.
