LOCATION - Lat 37°00'52", long 113°40'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.30, T.43 S., R.16 W., Washington County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 15010010, Bureau of Land Management, on right bank immediately upstream from Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness Area, and 8.0 mi southwest of St. George.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,123 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

Discharge for the period Oct 7, 2020, to Oct 7, 2021, was revised on Nov 7, 2022, based on changes to the stage-discharge rating.

Discharge for the period Oct 7, 2021 to Nov 16, 2022, was revised on Dec 13, 2023, based on changes to the stage-discharge rating.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1950 to December 1956, October 1991 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage and concrete control. Datum of gage is 2,401.58 ft. above NAVD of 1988 from a Level II GNSS survey conducted on February 18, 2021. October 1950 to December 1956, about 400 ft downstream at different datum. October 1991 to November 2009, 200 ft downstream at same datum.
REMARKS - Records fair except estimated discharges and discharges over 200 ft³/s which are fair to poor due to lack of good high flow provisions. Many diversions for irrigation upstream of station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 60,000 ft³/s (estimated), Jan 1, 1989, gage height, about 30.0 ft, result of Quail Creek reservoir dike failure.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 25,100 ft³/s, Dec 21, 2010, gage height 20.98 ft, from flood marks; no flow at times in some years.
