USGS Water-Year Summary 2021
10010020 GSL BREACH AT LAKESIDE, UT
LOCATION - Lat 41°13'21", long 112°50'57" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Box Elder County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 16020310, on Union Pacific Railroad causeway bridge, Great Salt Lake, at Lakeside, UT. Connects Gilbert Bay (to the south) and Gunnison Bay (to the north).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter.
REMARKS - Records are considered fair except for estimated discharges, and discharges less than 100 ft³/s, which are considered poor. Flow through the causeway breach is mainly controlled by the water surface elevation difference between Gilbert and Gunnison Bays of Great Salt Lake. Flow generally occurs from south to north but, during wind events, can reverse and flow north to south, which is represented by negative discharge.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily discharge, 5,730 ft³/s, Mar 17, 2012; minimum daily discharge, -1500 ft³/s, April 8, 2013.
