LOCATION - Lat 46°43'20.41", long 113°40'59.02" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.12, T.11 N., R.17 W., Missoula County, MT, Hydrologic Unit 17010202, on left bank 100 ft downstream from private road bridge, 0.2 mi upstream from mouth, and 3.7 mi southeast of Clinton.
DRAINAGE AREA - 889 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - The maximum discharge and gage height for water year 2010 were revised on May 11, 2021, based on reanalysis of gage height record.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1972 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 3,519.46 ft, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
REMARKS - Some regulation occurs upstream by East Fork Rock Creek Reservoir.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in June 1972 reached a stage of 8.52 ft, from floodmark, discharge, 6,500 ft³/s; local residents report flood of 1927 reached a stage of about 9.5 ft.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Instantaneous low flow may have been leass during period of ice affect.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: September 1979 to September 1983, April 1995 to September 2002, (seasonal record) October 2004 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water temperature probe was installed in April 1995.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 23.0°C, Aug. 1, 2000; minimum, 0.0°C, on many days during winter periods.
