LOCATION - Lat 44°33'48", long 121°15'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.02, T.12 S., R.12 E., Jefferson County, OR, Hydrologic Unit 17070305, on right bank of Crooked River arm of Lake Billy Chinook, at Cove Palisades State Park Marina and 3.8 mi northwest of Culver.
DRAINAGE AREA - 7,490 mi². approximately.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 2005 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929 (established by Portland General Electric Co.). Prior to Oct. 1, 2009, datum of gage was reported as NGVD of 1929, but datum was found to be 0.169 ft higher.
REMARKS - Reservoir is formed by rock fill dam completed in June 1964 by Portland General Electric Co. Total capacity, 534,700 acre-ft at elevation 1,945.0 ft (proposed upper limit of operation). Active capacity, 273,900 acre-ft between elevations 1,860.0 ft (proposed lower limit of operation) and 1,945.0 ft. Lake's primary purposes are hydropower, water quality improvement, irrigation, fish and wildlife habitat, recreation, and increasing flows in the upper Deschutes basin.
