LOCATION - Lat 43°04'05.44", long 124°06'28.24" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.10, T.29 S., R.12 W., Coos County, OR, Hydrologic Unit 17100305, in SE 1/4 sec.10, T.29 S., R.12 W., on left bank, 1.5 mi east-northeast of Myrtle Point, and at mile 4.35.
DRAINAGE AREA - 283 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1928 to September 1946, October 1963 to September 1968, October 2012 to current year (gage heights only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 50 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Oct. 1, 1930, nonrecording gage at site 0.25 mi downstream at different datum. Oct. 1, 1930 to Sept. 30, 1946, water-stage recorder at site 4.25 mi upstream at datum 10.94 ft above NGVD of 1929. Oct. 1, 1963 to Sept. 30, 1968, nonrecording gage at site 0.25 mi downstream at datum 2.79 ft above NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - No regulation. Small diversions for irrigation upstream from station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage known, 41.2 ft, sometime during winter of 1909-10, at site used water years 1931-46, discharge not determined. Flood of Dec. 26, 1955, reached a stage of 37.0 ft, at site used water years 1931-46, discharge, 20,000 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 38.39 ft Dec. 21, 2014; minimum gage height recorded since October 2012, 2.77 ft Aug. 11, 2015; maximum discharge, 38,400 ft³/s Dec. 23, 1964, gage height, 37.67 ft, site and datum then in use; minimum discharge observed, 1.2 ft³/s Aug. 12, 1968.
