LOCATION - Lat 36°55'30", long 77°10'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Sussex County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010201, off State Highway 634, 1.4 mi south of State Highway 35, and 1.7 mi southeast of Homeville. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 470 ft. Upper casing diameter 4.50 in; top of first opening 460 ft, bottom of last opening 470 ft. Drilled observation water well, diameter 2 in., 439 ft to 470 ft, screened 460 to 470 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 90 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 1.00 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 1, 1985 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1985 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Mar. 1, 1988 to June 16, 2005, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel. Prior to Mar. 1, 1988, digital recorder, 60-minute record interval.
REMARKS - Well is located in Lower Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Sudden rises in water levels correspond with peak streamflows at USGS station 02047000 - Nottoway River near Sebrell, VA. Records poor for period Mar. 16, 2014 to May 6, 2015.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 73.31 ft below land-surface datum, June 7, 2013; lowest recorded, 90.11 ft below land-surface datum, Nov. 12, 13, 2008.
