LOCATION - Lat 37°07'12", long 76°41'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Surry County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080206, 0.5 mi east of State Highway 690, 2.5 mi northwest of Bacons Castle. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 46 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 41 ft, bottom of last opening 46 ft. Drilled observation water well, diameter 3 in. from 41 to 46 ft, screened 41 to 46 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 45 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 2.49 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 14, 2003 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1978 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1985 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. July 10, 1995 to Mar, 3, 2004, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 7, 1985 to July 10, 1995, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape. Prior to Oct. 7, 1985, occasional measurement with chalked tape.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Yorktown-Eastover aquifer of Miocene-Pliocene age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 3.90 ft below land-surface datum, May 29, 1980; lowest recorded, 11.25 ft below land-surface datum, Sept. 23, 2010.
