LOCATION - Lat 37°16'44", long 77°24'46" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Colonial Heights City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080207, 200 ft west U.S. Highways 1 and 301 (Boulevard), 0.5 mi south of the intersection of State Highway 144 (Ashby Avenue) and U.S. Highways 1 and 301 in Colonial Heights.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 100 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 50 ft, bottom of last opening 100 ft. Drilled unused water well, cased to 50 ft, open hole 50 to 100 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 57 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 1.05 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 24, 2006 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Prior to July 24, 2006, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in Petersburg Granite of Mississippian age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 10.73 ft below land-surface datum, Jan. 26, 1978 and Mar. 31, 1998; lowest measured, 19.26 ft below land-surface datum, Dec. 3, 1963.
