372959104092201 CANTONMENT METEOROLOGICAL STATION NEAR CEMETERY AT SIMPSON, CO
LOCATION - Lat 37°29'59", long 104°09'35" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.19, T.29 S., R.60 W., Las Animas County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 11020005, on Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site approximately 200 ft north of Military Supply Road 1, 250 ft west of Simpson Cemetery, 0.4 mi east of Highway 350, and 32 mi northeast of Trinidad.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Precipitation: July 1993 to October 1998, May 1999 to November 2013, October 2021 to September 2022. Air Temperature: September 2021 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Weighing-plate rain gage with satellite telemetry, air-temperature probe, and a combination wind speed/direction sensor. Elevation of gage is 5,630 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Mar. 25, 1999, at site 780 ft east. Prior to Oct. 14, 2021, tipping-bucket rain gage at site.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Maximum daily precipitation, 2.17 inches, Apr. 23, 2004.

Maximum instantaneous air temperature, 38.9 deg C, June 24, 2012, June 16, 2021; Minimum instantaneous air temperature, -29.9 deg C, Feb. 3, 2011.
