LOCATION - Lat 37°37'58", long 79°27'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Rockbridge County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080202, 0.35 mi northwest of intersection of State Highways 130 and 684 in Glasgow. Owner: Town of Glasgow.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 700 ft. Upper casing diameter 6.50 in; top of first opening 101 ft, bottom of last opening 700 ft. Drilled unused water well, cased to 101 ft, open hole from 101 to 700 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 745 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 2.00 ft above land-surface datum, Jun. 5, 1972 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1972 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Oct. 1, 1995 to Mar. 24, 2004, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel, prior to Oct. 1, 1995 continuous strip-chart recorder.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Rome Formation of Cambrian age. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 14.27 ft below land-surface datum, Apr. 29, 1987; lowest recorded, 30.44 ft below land-surface datum, Sept. 4, 2002.
