  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023

Ozark Plateaus aquifer system
Gasconade Dolomite, Lower
LOCATION - Lat 37°56'25.1", long 91°48'04.6" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.10, T.37 N., R.8 W., Phelps County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 10290203,
REVISIONS HISTORY -
Revisions: Land-surface datum was updated to 974.00 ft NAVD88 on May 22, 2023, as determined by a GNSS survey by Missouri DNR. Land-surface datum was previously published as 975 ft NGVD29 from topographic map. Discrete water-level measurements prior to May 22, 2023, are referenced to the original datum.

A -2.00 ft correction was applied to the data for calender years 1985-86. These data were previously published by Berkas and Endicott (1989), however the Measuring Point height was not subtracted from the published data, but it was described as water levels below land surface. GROUNDWATER RECORDS
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 974 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: unknown, 2.0 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 1, 1962 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 2, 1968 to present.
GAGE - Stevens model A-35 chart recorder installed January 2, 1968. Stevens model 7001 digital recorder installed October 5, 1987. March 7, 2001 to present; DCP with telemetry capability and a float and encoder as the water level recording and measuring devices.
COOPERATION - Data furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR); Record from January 2, 1968 to March 6, 2001 furnished from MDNR. Record from March 07, 2001 to present, processed by USGS and MDNR.
REMARKS -

Furnished record rated fair (January 2, 1968 to August 25, 1988). Strip charts are available to verify daily values. There were several abrupt jumps in the data attributed to the float getting hung. The 5-day average values typically appear to be within +/- 0.5 ft. Periods where the float was stuck were deleted. Furnished record rated good (August 26, 1988 to January 25, 1993) based on 43 water level measurements which are available for comparison. Reported water levels are within 1.0 ft of the daily value. This data has been archived by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and has been verified by USGS. As depth to water increased in the well with time, the float became more susceptible to sticking on the casing and a stair-stepped hydrograph developed. This feature began to commonly occur in 1980, and the accuracy of data after this decreased to +/- 1 ft. Furnished record rated poor (January 26, 1993 to March 6, 2001) because no water level measurements are available to verify daily values. There were several abrupt jumps in the data and could be caused by the float getting hung. These water level could not be verified and therefore are rated poor. Water levels fluctuate about 15 ft each day because of a nearby pumping well influencing water levels in the area. Data from 03/07/2001 to 09/30/2008 has been processed by the USGS with field water level measurements (32 measurements) during the period to verify the recorded water levels. This record is considered good. Data from 10/01/2008 to 12/28/2009 is good based on 7 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. Data from 12/08/2009 to 09/27/2010 is good based on 4 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. Record from 09/27/2010 to 09/19/2011 is good based on 6 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. Record from 09/19/2011 to 01/04/2012 is good based on 3 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 01/05/2012 to 09/04/2013 is good based on 3 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.10 ft. The record from 09/05/2013 to 11/18/2014 is good based on 3 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.10 ft.
