LOCATION - Lat 38°11'32", long 76°55'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Westmoreland County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02070011, at George Washington Birthplace National Monument, 500 ft east of park road, 0.6 mi north of the end of State Highway 204, and 3.4 mi southeast of Colonial Beach. Owner: National Park Service.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 22.6 ft. Upper casing diameter 36 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined. Dug unused water well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 17 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CONCRETE LIP ON CASING, 1.65 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 28, 1977 to Jul. 4, 1995; TOP OF CONCRETE HATCH ON WELL CASING, 2.25 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 3, 1995 to Dec. 16, 2003; TOP OF RECORDER SHELF, 2.3 ft above land-surface datum, Dec. 15, 2003 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1977 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Prior to Dec. 15, 2003, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in Columbia aquifer of Quaternary age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, -0.84 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 12, 2020; lowest measured, 12.80 ft below land-surface datum, Dec. 27, 1988.
