GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 33.43 ft. Upper casing diameter 2.04 in; top of first opening 32.51 ft, bottom of last opening 33.01 ft. Well 533E is a groundwater observation well that was drilled on 12 Aug. 1996 with a 7.25-inch-diameter, with an unknown drill rig to a unknown borehole depth. The well is constructed of a 0.5-feet-long, 2.04-inch-diameter, schedule-40, galvanized steel, 0.010-inch slotted, well screen, attached with to length/s of 2.04-inch-diameter, schedule-40 galvanized steel well casing. The well casing measuring point (stickup) was 1.39 feet (1421.69 ft. NAVD88, +/- 0.01 ft.) above land surface when measured on 22 Jul. 2013. The open interval of the well is between 32.51 and 33.01 feet below land surface and the total well depth is 33.43 feet below land surface.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,420.3 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Initial MP for this well. Discovered to be inaccurate and MP was created, 1.76 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 12, 1996 to Aug. 13, 1996; More accurate MP length. This should be used for all water level measurements at well, 1.39 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 13, 1996 to present. The measuring point is a black mark on the top of the 2-inch PVC well casing, and was 1.39 feet above land surface on 22 Jul. 2013. Elevation of the measuring point is 1421.69 plus-or-minus 0.01 feet above sea level, North American Vertical Datum of 1988, based on differential GPS Survey on 25 October 2010.
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water levels were recorded periodically from 18 August 2004 to the present.
GAGE -

On 18 Oct. 2019, a Campbell Scientific, Inc. CS547A-L specific conductance and water temperature sensor was installed in the well and wired into a nearby Campbell Scientific, Inc. CR1000 datalogger. This sensor is hanging at 33.0 ft. BLS in the well. All of these data are recorded half-hourly by the CR1000 datalogger at site 1402G (USGS 473426095052447). The CS547A-L sensor cable is buried in PVC pipe that runs from well 533E to site 1402G, where the CR1000 datalogger, power, and telemetry equipment is installed. Well 533E is approximately 40 ft. northeast of site 1402G.

COOPERATION - Well 533E is operated in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey's Toxic Substances Hydrology Program, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Enbridge Energy Inc., and Beltrami County. This well is located at the National Crude-Oil Spill Research Site near Bemidji, Minnesota.
