50010800 LAGO GUAJATACA AT DAMSITE NEAR QUEBRADILLAS, PR
LOCATION - Lat 18°24'01.30", long 66°55'23.08" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Quebradillas Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010002, on right bank, in a concrete intake tower at Dam site, 5.2 mi (8.4 km) southeast from Quebradillas plaza, 0.5 mi (0.8 km) northeast from San Antonio de Padua Church, and 2.8 mi (4.5 km) from Segunda Unidad Baldorioty de Castro School.
DRAINAGE AREA - 23.3 mi². (60.5 km2).
REVISIONS HISTORY -

Drainage area revised in 2021 based on ArcHydro 2020, more detailed topo used.
Datum of gage was previously reported in the site file as 659.48 ft (201.0 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL-Old PR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico and the correct LMSL-Old PR elevation is 600 ft (182.9 m), published historical records did not reflect this site file typo. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1995 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
COOPERATION - Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, (PREPA).
REMARKS - Lago Guajataca was completed in 1928. The dam is a semi-hydraulic earthfill structure about 123 ft (37 m) high, a top width of 31 ft (9.5 m) at crest elevation of 664 ft (202.5 m), a base width of 623 ft (190 m), a crest length of 1,036 ft (316 m) and has a maximum storage capacity of 49,200 acre-ft (60.6 hm3). The Guajataca Dam provides water for the municipalities of Aguadilla, Isabela, Moca, Aguada, and Quebradillas although its primary purpose is for agricultural irrigation for the flatlands of the area.
