50045000 LAGO LA PLATA AT DAMSITE NEAR TOA ALTA, PR
LOCATION - Lat 18°20'41.98", long 66°14'11.25" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Toa Alta Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010005, 2.9 mi (4.7 km) at northeast of Naranjito plaza, 2.7 mi (4.3 km) west of State Road 167 km 15.3, Buena Vista, Bayamón, and 5.2 mi (8.4 km) east of Corozal plaza.
DRAINAGE AREA - 181 mi² of which 8.20 mi² probably is noncontributing. 469 km2 of which 21.2 km2 probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - Datum of gage was previously reported in the site file as 82 ft (25 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL- OldPR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico and the correct LMSL- Old PR elevation is 100 ft (30.5 m), published historical records did not reflect this site file typo. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
COOPERATION - Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA).
REMARKS - Lago de La Plata first construction phase was completed in 1974 and the second construction phase to provide the spillway with bascule gates was completed in October 1989. The maximum storage is 37,000 acre-ft (45.6 hm3) and its purpose is the supply of water for domestic and industrial use. Lago de la Plata Dam is a concrete gravity structure located across the Río de la Plata, the dam has an overall length of 774 ft (236 m) and a maximum height of about 131 ft (40 m). The dam spillway is provided with six bascule gates. The spillway crest has a total clear length of 690 ft (210 m), an elevation of 155 ft (47 m). New capacity table based on US Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 00-4045, October 1998. Prior to October 1994, published as Lago La Plata at Damsite. Figures for Water Years 1989 to 2011 published at 0.43 ft (0.131 m) lower.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 172.07ft (52.45 m), May 28, 2010; minimum elevation, 108.38 ft (33.02 m), February 21, 1995.
