LOCATION - Lat 18°17'56.22", long 65°41'37.78" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Fajardo Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010005, on downstream side of bridge of State Road 977, 0.33 mi (0.531 km) downstream from Quebrada Aguas Buenas, 1.17 mi (1.883 km) northeast of Colonia Paraíso, and 3.3 mi (5.311 km) southwest of Fajardo.
DRAINAGE AREA - 14.9 mi², (38.6 km2).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1960-1961; occasional low-flow and peak-flow measurements only. April 1, 1961 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite telemetry at station. Datum of gage is 136 ft (41.45 m) above National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) of 1929, from topographic map. Due to flood damage, gage datum has had changes as follows: March 24, 1961 to May 5, 1969, 138.95 ft (42.352 m); May 6, 1969 to March 16, 1972, 135.05 ft (41.163 m); March 17, 1972 to March 25, 1975, 138.6 ft (42.245 m); Prior to December 3, 2011 station was located upstream 500 ft at a datum 3.0 ft lower.
REMARKS - Low-flow affected by diversions for water supply about 0.35 mi (0.6 km) upstream from gaging station (estimated mean daily discharges is 10 ft³/s (0.283 m3/s)). Also diverted by Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) at Río Fajardo at Paraíso (50070900), upstream about 1.48 mi (2.38 km).
