50071225 LAGO FAJARDO NEAR VAPOR, PR
LOCATION - Lat 18°17'55.99", long 65°39'32.30" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Fajardo Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010005, located approximately 1.6 mi (2.57 km) south-southwest of Fajardo, is reached by State Road 53 from Fajardo.
REVISIONS HISTORY - Datum of gage was previously reported in the site file as 174 ft (53.0 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL-Old PR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico and the correct LMSL-Old PR elevation is 0 ft, published historical records did not reflect this site file typo. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 2011 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
COOPERATION - Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA).
REMARKS - The Lago Fajardo was completed in the 2006 and designed to store 4,455 acre-ft (5.448 hm3) of water to be utilized for domestic use for the towns of Fajardo, Luquillo, and Ceiba. Construction is a sand type dam and is 115 ft (35.05 m) of height. It is built out of Río Fajardo riverbed. It is supplied with an intake in Río Fajardo, upstream of their location, through pipes that carries water to the reservoir.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation 172.98 ft (52.72 m), Oct. 16, 2017; minimum elevation, 153.68 ft (46.84 m) Oct. 02, 2015.
