50128900 LAGO LOCO AT DAMSITE NEAR YAUCO, PR
LOCATION - Lat 18°02'40.22", long 66°53'17.95" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Yauco Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010004, at Damsite, 2.6 mi (4.18 km) northwest from Yauco plaza, 0.45 mi (0.72 km) northeast from Río Cañas School, and 0.95 mi (1.53 km) northwest from Susúa Alta School.
DRAINAGE AREA - 8.35 mi². (21.6 km2).
REVISIONS HISTORY - Datum of gage was previously reported in the site file as 246 ft (75.0 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL-Old PR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico and the correct LMSL-Old PR elevation is 0 ft, published historical records did not reflect this site file typo. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022.  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 18, 1995 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
REMARKS - Lago Loco was completed in 1951. The dam is a concrete gravity structure with a total length of 600 ft (183 m), maximum structural height of 72 ft (21.9 m), the ungated overflow spillway is 150 ft (47.7 m) long with crest at elevation of 230 ft (70.1 m). It has a normal storage capacity of 1,950 acre-ft (2.4 hm3) as for May 4, 1979. The Lago Loco Dam is part of the Southwestern Puerto Rico Project which was developed for electric power generation and irrigation of the lands in the Lajas Valley. Some of the project waters are used for water supply in the Lajas area. The maximum drawdown of the dam is from 230 ft (70.1 m) to 220 ft (67.1 m).
