south of State Route 83, in Allegheny State Park, near Red
House.
WELL CHARACTERISTICS.--Depth 52.8 ft. Upper casing
diameter 6 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last
opening undefined. Cased to 52.8 ft, open end. Elevation of
land-surface datum is 1,464.33 ft above NGVD of 1929 and
1,463.83 ft above NAVD of 1988.
DATUM.--Land-surface datum is 1,463.83 ft above North
American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of
casing, 2.23 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 21, 2012 to
present; File marks on 2" PVC pipe, 2.22 ft above
land-surface datum, Mar. 6, 2018 to Oct. 15, 2020; File marks
on 2" PVC pipe, 2.21 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 15,
2020 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--September 1950 to current year.
REVISIONS HISTORY.--The elevation of land-surface datum
was corrected on Dec. 15, 2020, from 1,467.08 ft above NGVD of
1929 to 1,464.33 ft above NGVD of 1929 and from 1,466.59 ft
above NAVD of 1988 to 1,463.83 ft above NAVD of 1988.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder--15 minute; periodic
measurements by USGS personnel.
REMARKS.--Well is in a New York State owned and operated
campground area. Extreme low water levels occurred from 1969 to
1979 due to the effect of pumping at the campground area. A
central water system for the campground, utilizing a well about
1.5 mi from the observation well was put in operation in 1980.
